Phosphate conversion coating is a chemical treatment applied to steel parts that creates a thin adhering layer of iron, zinc, or manganese phosphates, to achieve corrosion resistance, lubrication, or as a foundation for subsequent coatings or painting.

3 in 1 solution: A solution that does degreasing, de-rusting, and Phosphating in a single process.

Cold Phosphating solution:  A solution that provides phosphating at room temperature

Hot phosphating: A solution that provides phosphating at elevated temperatures.

3 in 1 Chemical

3 in 1 Phosphating chemical

The 3 in 1 compound does the work of degreasing, derusting, and Phosphating in a single process.

  • The metal job is to be immersed in the 3 in 1 solution and let rest for 2 to 3 minutes at room temperature.

  • The chemical cleans the surface, gets rid of the rust, and reacts with the surface of the job to form a layer of insoluble, crystalline phosphates

  • The 3-in-1 solution can be used for. phosphating on mild steel, Aluminium, Zinc, Cadmium, Silver and Tin.

How to use Cold Phosphating Chemical?

Cold phosphating

Cold Phosphating Solution

Cold phosphating solution is an alternative process chemical for the traditional hot phosphating technique. Cold Phosphating gives you a phosphate conversion coating at room temperature.

  • Phosphating solution is used on metal parts for corrosion resistance, lubrication, or as a foundation for subsequent coatings or paintings.

  • The metal job is to be immersed in the Cold Phosphating solution.

  • The chemical reacts with the surface of the job to form a layer of insoluble, crystalline phosphates.

  • The Cold phosphating solution can be used for phosphating on mild steel, Aluminium, Zinc, Cadmium, Silver, and Tin.

  • The entire process is to be conducted at room temperature.

Hot Phosphating Chemical

Phosphating chemical

Phosphating gives you a Phosphate conversion coating at room temperature.

  • Phosphating solution is used on metal parts for corrosion resistance, lubrication or as a foundation for subsequent coatings or paintings.

  • The metal job is to be immersed in the Phosphating solution and heated up to 50C.

  • The chemical reacts with the surface of the job to form a layer of insoluble, crystalline phosphates.

  • The phosphating solution can be used for phosphating on mild steel, Aluminium, Zinc, Cadmium, Silver and Tin.

  • The entire process is to be conducted at elevated temperatures up to 50C.

Frequently asked questions:

  1. What is phosphating?
Phosphating is a surface treatment process that involves the application of a phosphoric acid solution to metal surfaces, typically steel or iron. This process creates a thin, adhesive coating of iron or zinc phosphate on the surface, which can improve corrosion resistance and paint adhesion.

  2. What are the benefits of phosphating?
Phosphating can improve the corrosion resistance, paint adhesion, and lubrication properties of metal surfaces. It can also be used as a pretreatment for painting or powder coating to improve the overall finish.

  3. What types of phosphating are there?
There are several types of phosphating, including iron phosphating, zinc phosphating, and manganese phosphating.

  4. What is the process for phosphating?
The process for phosphating typically involves cleaning the metal surface, applying the phosphating solution we provide, and then rinsing and neutralizing the surface. The specific process will vary depending on the type of phosphating and the equipment used.

  5. How long does phosphating take?
The time required for phosphating will vary depending on the specific process and equipment used. However, it typically takes between 10-30 minutes to apply the phosphoric acid solution and rinse the surface.

  6. How can I tell if my surface has been phosphated?
There are a few ways to test if a surface has been phosphated. One method is to apply a drop of dilute hydrochloric acid to the surface and observe if a white or yellowish precipitate forms. Another method is to use a coating thickness gauge or check the surface with a microscope.

  7. Can phosphating be used on aluminum surfaces?
Phosphating is typically not used on aluminum surfaces. Other surface treatments such as anodizing and chromating are more suitable for aluminum.

  8. How to clean phosphated surface?
Phosphated surfaces should be cleaned with mild detergents and water, avoid using strong acids or alkalis. Additionally, avoid high-pressure water jets and abrasive materials, which can damage the phosphated coating.
